Each program students will work alongside industry professionals in singing, dancing, acting and technical production while working and rehearsing in a professional theatre environment.

All participants of The Musical Theatre Summer School will culminate their experience by performing in the fully staged production of FAME-The Musical at HOTA, Home Of The Arts from Thursday 24th to Saturday 26th January 2019.

FAME The Musical, Choreographed by KATE WORMALD (Channel 7’s Dance Boss, So You Think You Can Dance, The Voice and Happy Feet 2), Directed by TIM HILL (RENT, Mary Poppins, Into The Woods), and Musical direction by BEN MURRAY, with Vocal Director JACQUI DEVEREUX.

Producer Matt Ward says, “We are thrilled to launch the Musical Theatre Summer School program today and announce our incredible creative team who will bring this Broadway Phenomenon to the stage.

“Kate Wormald brings an exceptional wealth of knowledge and experience to the program. Her success as “Australia’s Favourite Female Dancer’ on So You Think You Can Dance skyrocketed her career to new highs. Her recent credits include Associate Head of Choreography and staging for the Opening Ceremony of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games as well as Channel 7’s DANCE BOSS and The Voice to name a few.

“TIM HILL is a NIDA graduate who has directed two productions of RENT for us, (Matt Ward Entertainment), at QPAC/Brisbane Powerhouse and was Director of Mary Poppins at The Arts Centre Gold Coast.

“The program is inspired by the previous Summer School musicals that took place at The Arts Centre Gold Coast many years ago. It was back then, the leading training ground for emerging artists in QLD. It not only provided an education it helped launch many a career.

“We hope, The Musical Theatre Summer School will give emerging artists a new platform to launch their performing careers and provide them with access to some of the best mentors and industry professionals in the business.”
