Aussie icon Humphrey B Bear announces new headquarters at
Village Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast

Village Roadshow Studios and OZPIX Entertainment are excited to announce the iconic Australian children’s star, Humphrey B Bear, will move into the Gold Coast Studios on Australia Day.

From the very moment he arrives in Queensland, Humphrey is hitting the ground running with a very busy schedule of booked live performances, ‘Ambassabear’ charity duties, creating educational products, and the development of his new TV show and feature film, with theme park integration on the horizon.

Humphrey, an official National Trust Icon, first appeared on Australian television screens 50 years ago with Here’s Humphrey, which remains one of the longest running children’s television shows in the world.

Kris Maric, CEO of OZPIX, who has recently taken over the ownership management for Humphrey with Humphrey B Bear Entertainment, is excited about working with Humphrey and his extensive new endeavours, introducing him to a new generation of fans far and wide.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to continue Humphrey’s magical journey. I loved him growing up. To me, he was always a cool bear: nice, loving, funny, relaxed, and always keen to learn and try new things and help others – as a kid he was a great role model. The fact that he didn’t speak I thought was one of his best features, it made him even more accessible to me, and indeed, all audiences of all backgrounds, as they say – 80% of communication is via body language.”

“I think he truly is the bear of the people, and our team and partner’s look forward to working with Humphrey to entertain and benefit all Australians, and indeed, all people and all creatures of the world,” Ms Maric said.

Village Roadshow Studios President, Lynne Benzie said the Studios are proud to be the new headquarters of Australia’s most loved bear.

“Humphrey is one of the biggest celebrities we’ve had call the Studios home and we are excited to be working with him and his team on their new adventures,” she said.

In recent years the rights for Humphrey were owned and managed by Imagination Ventures Pty Ltd, the philanthropic division of media company Imagination, which has had a 15 year history raising over seven million dollars for many Australian charities. Since 2012 Imagination has worked with Humphrey and focused on his role as a Children’s Charity campaigner, raising funds to help sick kids and their families as the Children’s Charity Mascot for South Australia.

“The last 50 years has been a great journey for Humphrey and his fans and the next stage of his life will allow him to do things he’s been wanting to do for a very long time,” said CEO of Imagination, Shane Yeend.

“We are excited about the opportunities OZPIX Entertainment will bring to the next chapter of Humphrey B Bear. Imagination will retain charitable rights to Humphrey in South Australia and work with OZPIX on national charity partnerships and continue to be a partner in Humphrey’s new adventures in Australia, and all around the globe. Humphrey holds a special place in people’s hearts, particularly in South Australia where he will continue to be very active going forward.”

Leading Indigenous business strategist and government advisor, Arabella Douglas, says she cannot wait to see him and is excited that Humphrey has already been working with a number of Indigenous consultants, including EJ Garrett, in order to develop various aspects of the Humphrey B Bear Creative Products and Services slate, plus his Education Tours and Community Services arm.

Humphrey’s move to Queensland has been supported by Village Roadshow Studios, Screen Queensland, the City of Gold Coast and its Economic Development Branch, along with various renowned executives in the film, kid’s TV, virtual reality, education, and live performance arenas.

The most recent and exciting news involving Humphrey, is his alliance with the National Trust’s Australian Festival of Marmalade and new friend Paddington Bear, the mascot for the UK’s World’s Original Marmalade Awards (WOMA), of which Prince Charles is a patron, and Humphrey will be heading to the UK event in March as Australia’s ‘Ambassabear’ to meet them both!

Humphrey truly is one very very busy bear, and what better day to welcome this super star to Queensland, other than Australia Day.
