BRISBANE’S LONGEST LUNCH, ITALIAN STYLE
Graced with authentic Italian cuisine, a 100 metre ‘peasant table’ will give meaning to Brisbane’s longest lunch as it lines the banks of the Brisbane River for Gusto da Gianni’s Christmas in July celebration.
Embracing the timeless tradition of the Sunday feast and the desire to celebrate family and food, Gusto’s banquet-style lunch is designed to spark conversation over fine food, live music and imported Italian beverages.
On Sunday, July 23, the riverfront of the wharf of the sophisticated riverside precinct will be transformed into a communal dining room where guests will be treated like one big Italian ‘famiglia’, with some of the culture’s finest food, beer and wine in plentiful supply.
The inaugural long lunch in 2015 saw 280 guests enjoy an afternoon of good company and Gusto da Gianni owner, Gianni Greghini, said this year around 400 people were expected to gather around a 100 meter-long table for the Italian affair.
“Our ‘Buon Natale’ lunch is a beautiful celebration of Italian cuisine and fine wine that highlights the simplicity of the Italian way of life,” he said.
“In Italy, this style of dining around a ‘peasant table’ doesn’t only happen at Christmas time, but every Sunday afternoon.
“This year, home made Italian patés served on crusty bread, cannelloni filled with pumpkin and ricotta, roasted suckling pig, slow braised lamb shoulder and a traditional Italian trifle will be served.
“It’s a true Italian feast and we would love everyone to join us for an afternoon at the longest lunch table in Brisbane.”
With the ambience of an Italian family bistro, Gusto da Gianni is located on the riverfront at the Portside Wharf precinct and delivers traditional Italian food and wine with breathtaking views.
