The man, the music, and the legend that is Johnny Cash will be brought to life on stage on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 November when The Man in Black; The Johnny Cash Story starring music legend Tex Perkins rolls into town for three shows only at Jupiters Theatre on the Gold Coast.
Off the back of two sell-out seasons at the Sydney Opera House, an 18 month Australia wide tour, and a blockbuster tour of New Zealand, the Helpmann Award* winning The Man in Black led by Australian rock icon Tex Perkins is set to wow audiences on the Gold Coast in a two hour spectacular.
The show, which also stars Rachael Tidd and the Tennessee Four, explores Cash’s complex life from his journey to the top and untimely fall from grace to his ultimate redemption, all the while interwoven with his greatest hits including Ring of Fire, I Walk the Line, Folsom Prison Blues, Sunday Mornin’ Coming Down, Get Rhythm, A Boy Named Sue, Hey Porter and over a dozen more.
With his driving freight-train chords, steel-eyed intensity and a voice as dark as the night, the legendary Johnny Cash revolutionized music with The Man in Black taking audiences on a musical journey through some of Cash’s most influential relationships, from his time spent with hardened prisoners to his tumultuous but passionate marriage with the stunning June Carter.
Tex Perkins, one of the most electrifying front men of Australian rock ‘n’ roll and a multi Aria Award winning performer in his own right, brings the infamous country legend to life, and leads The Tennessee Four in a not-to-be missed night of memorable music, joined by Rachael Tidd at Jupiters Theatre on the Gold Coast this November 28 and 29.
