NEW SERIES OF ‘STRIKE BACK’ ON FOX SHOWCASE AIRS FEBRUARY 6 at 8.30pm
Hush Hush Biz takes a look at the seventh and newest season of hit British-American Cinemax action series ‘Strike Back’ based on the works of former SAS soldier Colin Armstrong under the pen name Chris Ryan. This series contains 10 episodes and we had a look at the first two.
These episodes were directed by the talented Bill Eagles whose previous work spans many iconic crime procedurals and pop culture series including episodes of ‘CSI’, ‘Gotham’, ‘Cold Case’, ‘Numb3rs’, ‘Battlestar Glactica’, ‘Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles’ and the hit J.J. Abrams series ‘Fringe’.
The series is titled ‘Revolution’, it revolves around British Military intelligence agents of section 20 who are sent to Malaysia after the murder of lance corporal Zoe Davis (played by Clara Paget, star of ‘One Day’, ‘Johnny English Reborn’ and ‘Fast and Furious 6’) who was meeting Russian agent Katrina Zarkova for unknown reasons. Returning from season 6 are Grace Novin (playec by Alin Sumarwata), Sgt.Samuel Wyatt (played by Daniel MacPherson) and Sgt.Thomas “Mac” Mc Allister (played by Warren Brown).
Prior to being sent to Malaysia, section 20 were all on suspended duties on base in Nairobi, Kenya for 6 months following the events of the previous series. They are joined by their new temporary commanding officer Alexander Coltrane as well as the previously mentioned Russian agent from the FSB Alpha Group Captain Katrina Zarkova as well as her handler Pavel. Their mission begins with uncovering the circumstances that lead to the murder of Zoe Davis but becomes vastly more complicated as it continues. Various members of the team become increasingly deterred to see this to its end due to their personal connections.
This series’ cast are brilliantly engaging. Many of them have been in some of the most iconic shows on television including Australian productions like ‘Neighbours’ and ‘Home and Away’ as well as international productions like the films previously listed as well as TV shows like ‘NCIS’, ‘CSI: Miami’, ‘House’, ‘Dollhouse’, ‘Ghost Whisperer’, ‘Rizzoli and Isles’, ‘Law and Order UK’, ‘Cold Case’ and ‘Battlestar Glactica’.
‘Strike Back’ is exciting, fast paced and action packed. I highly recommend for anyone who enjoys crime procedurals like the ones the cast and crew have worked on previously. The series begins Wednesday, February 6 at 8.30pm on Fox Showcase.
