International Film Guests hosted by The Oriental Yum Cha.
The Oriental Yum Cha Restaurant,512 Wickham St, Fortitude Valley, QLD played host to the film guests for a Media Call yesterday 11th February 2014, with the President Ray Z Shan, of “The Golden Koala Film Festival”and along with Fei Xie – Artistic Director who was present to answer some questions of their work. Now as Vice-president of Beijing Film Academy from 1980-88;he acts as professor and Master & Doctoral supervisor in BFA from 1965 to now, and has a lot of excellently Chinese filmmaker students that like Chen Kaige, Zhang Yimou, Jia Zhangke , etc.
As a jury of Berlin international film festival in 2001 and Montreal world film festival in 1990 and 2008, and also as a jury in a lot of others national and oversea film festivals. Today he spoke of how much he has loved films since a young age and was greatly inspired by more Russian films and European firstly till he become more into the American Market and to his own regions. He sees the Chinese Film Industry will overtake all other global industries, The China Film industry is a Billion Dollar industry. The Interest is gaining more with the co- production that will be more looked at even more so in the future is a exciting time ahead.
The President Ray Z Shan, expressed it all about making the dreams of vision to coming through in the craft of film that has a richness now more than ever. There is a great profit at Box Office that can be made due to the amount of people who live in China, as to the popular films that bring the younger people to come and see films that are action, love stories, and comedy.
New Actor Ma Xinchun, Actress Zhang Min,new Director Li Ruijun, gave a wonderful and funny insight to their film “Fly with the Crane”. They filmed it all in 18 days and Ma Xinchun who has been a farmer all his life, expressed how he worked on both during the filming, but would now love to be a full time actor.
The awards were presented to all the visitors of the festival at the Hilton Hotel later that evening for a Gala Red Carpet Arrival. A invite of 200 people attended the night and celebrated the 4th film festival here in Brisbane. There is no doubt that the Chinese industry will become huge and we may seen more productions in Australia.
