There’s no end to the fascinating culture of Sardinia: the mystery of its megalithic ruins, town festivals that celebrate the glories of its past, handicrafts that demonstrate the illustrious traditions of its artisans, and a flavourful cuisine that highlights its local products.
World-renowned for the exceptional standard of its hospitality, Costa Smeralda is a second home for the international jet set who dot the lobbies, suites, and private beaches of four of the world’s most prestigious Hotels: Cala di Volpe, Cervo, Pitrizza and Romazzino managed by Starwood Hotels and Resorts and all owned by Qatar Holding, together with Pevero Golf Club and the Marina.

As well as the centuries old history highlights and charming culture of this exclusive destination, celebrities, business leaders and discerning VIP guests can enjoy a range of wellness and active experiences including scuba diving and snorkelling, horse riding, caving, mountain biking, trekking, paragliding and sport fishing. The emerald seas are also home to some of the world’s most prestigious sailing events.

When the sun goes down, the glamour of the Costa Smeralda lights up – fashion shows, exclusive concerts, luxurious boutiques, world-class restaurants and the most exciting bars and clubs – nothing says Italian style like the Costa Smeralda.

About Pevero Golf Club
In the late 1960s, Aga Khan identified the peninsula between the bays of Cala di Volpe and Pevero on the Italian Island of Sardinia as an ideal location for golf. By 1972 his vision had been turned into spectacular reality by the world renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Snr with Pevero Golf Club opening to critical acclaim. The course was so lauded that just six years later it hosted the 1978 Italian Open, won by South African Dale Hayes.

Pevero Golf Club, situated in the Porto Cervo district of Costa Smeralda, is widely regarded as one of Trent Jones Snr’s most daring designs. The strategic 18-hole, 6717-yard layout is set on the edge of a jagged coastline with glorious views across the turquoise Mediterranean Sea from every hole. On a clear day, views of distant Corsica add to Pevero Golf Club’s alluring mystique.

Not that the charming views are to be taken lightly. When the famed North wind – the Mistral – blows, controlling your Titleist Pro V1 is a challenge for even the best ball strikers as the star-studded field (including Jacklin, Charles, Lyle, Ballesteros and Torrance) discovered during the 1978 Italian Open. Hayes won with a five over par total of 293 and was one of just two players to card a round in the 60s at that week’s European Tour event.
