At home on the river, beside the iconic Stokehouse restaurant, and watching over the city,
Q is a bar that celebrates what it means to live in Queensland – a locale by the water at River Quay at South Bank, a design that perfectly frames the big skies of Brisbane, a Hand & Fork menu that champions local produce curated by the master craftsman himself Chef Richard Ousby, cocktails that can be explored for hours and music to chill by. Did we mention a killer vibe and no pretention? This is Q.
Q is a gathering place for people of like minds, not ages; for lovers of music and flavour, and for those who care less about being seen, and more about seeing, tasting and experiencing! In the real world.
If the location sounds familiar, it is. Q stands where Stoke Bar did.
A four-week, million-dollar transformation will see Q come to life – the redesign takes more advantage of the river’s edge, with increased seating, booths, intimate spaces and yes, there’s a private lounge. Q is larger, extending the boardwalk experience with wrap-around lounge seating in a canvas of warm grey, blue, pastel green and orange.
Q’s Fork & Hand menu stars some 20 clever palate pleasers, like the mozzarella and bolognaise jaffle (omg, what?), salted cod fitters with sheep’s milk yoghurt, grilled haloumi with burnt honey and fresh mint, Australian produced salami and salumi and pickle and fried chicken bites (can you even imagine?). It doesn’t stop there. Think roasted chats with grilled chilli salsa, minute steak with grilled lemon and chimmi churi, fish and chip (yes, you read right!) and spanner crab and buckwheat noodle with sweet corn and basil.

Goodwill Rising pays tribute to the closest bridge to Q and features Don Julio Blanco Tequila, fig jam, ginger, pineapple shrub, vanilla syrup, lemon juice, lemon & vanilla sugar crisp.
The Diamantina is a nod to the wife of the first Governor of Queensland, Lady Diamantina Bowen, and stars Pennyweight Constance Fino, Manly Marine Vodka, thyme, cucumber, lemon oil, topped with soda water and served with nori & citrus caviar nestled in an oyster shell. It’s brilliant.
Music is a big part of Q – every Friday evening and Sunday afternoon the cool tunes of DJs will wash over Q-goers like waves from the Citycat, and live acts will feature each month. It’ll be a cool mix of DJs and live sound sessions.
And who’s the captain at Q you ask?
Well that’s Becki Parker, cocktail connoisseur, master pourer, bar bon vivant and keeper of secrets!
Becki comes to Q via Nant Whisky Bar, where her passion for the amber magic was first ignited.
She assisted with the opening of the Socialites Bar at the then newly renovated and heritage-listed 5-star Inchcolm Hotel. From there she was lured to manage the Cuvee Lounge at Sofitel Brisbane Central, and then she made the move across the Brisbane River to the celebrated Soleil Pool Bar at Rydges South Bank. This is the cache of experience and local knowledge that she brings to Q. So, go on, go ahead, ask her anything!
