The Mise En Scéne Company has signed worldwide rights to American Reject ahead of the Cannes film market in July. The agency which launched at last year’s AFM has seen a rapid growth since last December and the film marks a steady progression.

American Reject, directed by Marlo Hunter and produced by Full Armor Films, is a music comedy starring KATHLEEN ELIZABETH MONTELEONE (also screenplay), KEALA SETTLE, ANNALEIGH ASHFORD, BILLY RAY CYRUS, CONNIE RAY, BRYAN BATT, REBECCA BLACK, and introduces rising talent, ANGELICA HALE. Kay is the most recent reject from America’s hottest singing competition POP STAR NOW. As she mourns her public elimination, she’s forced to participate in the network’s “After The Cut” filming, and is sent to her hometown to move back in with her mother and the simple life she left behind. With nothing on the horizon and a cameraman following her every move, she is reacquainted with the folks of her past and finds herself in the Easter Spectacular at the annual town fair. As it turns out, losing is her only way to win.
Regarding the film Paul Yates MSC CEO said: “We were struck by American Reject the moment we saw it last year and it’s been a project that we have been following for some time now. The film originally came to us in the middle of lockdown last year and we’ve been pursuing it ever since. When it arrived to us it was exactly what we wanted to see at that time, a heartfelt feel-good story and now we finally have the honour of helping to bring it into the world.”

MSC is unclear as of yet whether it intends to attend the market in person and is waiting to see how events unfold over the following month to make an informed decision.
