MYSTERY ROAD’s AUSTRALIAN PREMIERE –
WINTON, OUTBACK QUEENSLAND
SATURDAY OCTOBER 5
Dark Matter, Screen Queensland and Vision Splendid Outback Film Festival today announced that the new Australian film MYSTERY ROAD, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Ivan Sen, will premiere at the historic Royal Mail Outdoor Theatre in Winton Queensland, where the film was shot last year, on Saturday October 5.
MYSTERY ROAD was selected as Opening Night Film at the 2013 Sydney Film Festival, and premiered internationally over the weekend with a red carpet screening at the Toronto International Film Festival.
MYSTERY ROAD is the story of an indigenous detective Jay Swan, played by the magnificent Aaron Pedersen, who returns to his outback hometown to investigate the murder of a teenage girl.
Aaron is joined by an impressive ensemble of Australian actors, including Hugo Weaving, Ryan Kwanten, Jack Thompson, Tony Barry, Tasma Walton, Bruce Spence, Robert Mammone, David Field, Roy Billing, Daniel Roberts, Damian Walshe-Howling and Samara Weaving.
“Ivan Sen and I have chosen to have the red carpet premiere of the film in Winton as a way of saying thank you to the people of Winton who were so generous and welcoming when we made the film there last year,” said producer David Jowsey.
“The premiere is also a chance to show Winton how incredible the region’s spectacular landscapes look up on the big screen. They’ll see a few local cast members up on the big screen too.”
Special guests at the premiere will be two stars of the film, Aaron Pedersen and Roy Billing, as well as director Ivan Sen and producer David Jowsey.
The Mystery Road premiere screening is free of charge and all Winton locals are welcome to attend. After the screening there will be a celebratory after party at the famous North Gregory Hotel, where a very special announcement for Winton will be made. Drinks and snacks at bar prices.
