This is a interesting episode that features the legeand Tom Jones and one to one chat that works in with the painting being unveiled. This has to be one of my favourites this year.
PORTRAIT ARTIST OF THE YEAR, Season 5, Episodes 11 & 12, Premiering Tuesday September 3 at 7:30pm on Foxtel Arts
Tuesday September 3 at 7.30pm- winning commission episode with Tom Jones
In this final programme, the winner embarks on a £10,000 commission to create a portrait of musical legend, Sir Tom Jones. Charged with painting this formidable character, so well-known to audiences world-wide, can our artist get beyond his public persona to get a fresh take on such a familiar face? We see our winning artist at work, witness the development of the painting, and hold our breath as the final portrait is unveiled at the National Museum of Wales. Stephen Mangan and Joan Bakewell are our presenters.

Watching Portrait Artist of the Year has inspired many a viewer to take up painting and the celebrity sitters often express a desire to have a go themselves. In this celebrity special of Portrait Artist of the Year 6 celebrity artists are invited to take up the challenge. Comedians Phil Jupitus, Vic Reeves, Josie Long and Joe Lycett are joined by weatherman, Tomasz Schafernaker and actor, Maureen Lipman.
Under the scrutiny of judges Tai Shan Schierenberg, Kate Bryan and Kathleen Soriano the artists have just four hours to create a portrait one of three well-known sitters: novelist and journalist, Howard Jacobson; actor Billy Howell and founder of MOBO awards, Kanya King. The presenters are Stephen Mangan and Joan Bakewell.
