Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s season finale gala set to play to a global audience of 30 million
Music Director’s final concert to stream across Queensland, and globally

In an exciting first for Queensland Symphony Orchestra, the season finale gala Timeless on Saturday 16 November will be livestreamed throughout regional Queensland as well as in various Wesley Mission Centres across Brisbane and to the rest of the globe via Facebook Live. And in a major coup for the Orchestra, it has been confirmed that the concert will be aired on channel Canal Once across the USA and Canada on Sunday November 24, and the following Saturday November 30, it will air on channel Canal 22, into the USA and Mexico. This combined international coverage gives QSO an approximate global audience of some 30 million people for this concert.

Classical music fans will be able to enjoy conductor Alondra de la Parra’s final concert as Music Director in venues in Ingham, Gladstone, Toowoomba, Nambour, Charters Towers, Beaudesert and Gympie. Cementing its reputation as the Orchestra For Everyone, Queensland Symphony Orchestra has also partnered with the Wesley Mission to stream the concert into a number of its residential aged care, supported accommodation and retirement communities across Brisbane, with some of these communities hosting sit-down dinners and themed events for their residents.

“To be able to share our season finale gala, and my final concert, with audiences across Queensland, Australia and also throughout Mexico, Canada and the United States is a real dream come true for me. It’s a goal I have had since beginning my journey with the wonderful Queensland Symphony Orchestra and I am thrilled we have made it happen and that millions will be able to experience the extraordinary orchestra,” said Ms de la Parra.

Queensland Symphony Orchestra Chief Executive, Craig Whitehead said, “We feel such joy that livestreaming Timeless will enable music-lovers who may have medical or mobility issues, or those who live in regional communities, to experience with us, our thrilling season finale from the comfort of their own homes, or in their local entertainment venue. It’s a major moment for Queensland Symphony Orchestra and in achieving our mission to be an Orchestra For Everyone.”
