Summer Series Set To Stun The Sydney Hills
This summer is shaping up as one of the biggest in memory for the Sydney Hills, with tens of thousands of visitors expected to flock to a series of major local events over the coming months.
Hills Shire Mayor Clr Andrew Jefferies said the upcoming Summer Series combined big-ticket events with a number of stunning Sydney Hills venues.
“As a passionate supporter of tourism, I’m really excited about the Summer Series events and what we’ve got in store for our residents and visitors. It’s bigger and better than anything we’ve done before in our Shire,” Mayor Jefferies said.
Bella Vista Farm Park’s status as the Sydney Hills’ premier major event venue continues to grow, with the heritage oasis to host the Sydney Country Music Festival, Shakespeare in the Park, The International Sand Sculpting Exhibition, Australia Day celebrations featuring Kate Ceberano and the Convict Footprints.
Meanwhile, the Castle Hill Main Street will be lit up like never before, with the first ever Sydney Hills Christmas SkyShow and New Year’s Eve live site.
“The Summer Series gives residents the opportunity to have a major event experience without having to travel to the CBD. It also brings tens of thousands of visitors to our Shire and additional spending at many of our local businesses.”
Mayor Jefferies said that each event was unique to the Sydney Hills.
“The Sydney Country Music Festival showcases the best Australian country talent, attracting visitors from rural areas who in many cases haven’t ever heard of our Shire, let alone visited.”
“Families from across Sydney will travel to Castle Hill Main Street for the Sydney Hills Christmas SkyShow. It will combine a 40m x 10m LED canopy displaying Christmas illuminations and sound with preshow performances from local music schools.”
“Shakespeare in the Park needs no introduction, growing in popularity with theatre lovers across Sydney – this year’s edition will include A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Crucible.”
“The International Sand Sculpting Exhibition is a proven winner. This event attracted many thousands of visitors to its former location in Windsor and I know that with our special touch and energy, this event will be even more successful at Bella Vista Farm Park. With the Disney and Pixar theme of “You’ve Got a Friend In Me” – the Sand Sculpting Exhibition will be very popular with young families.”
Mayor Jefferies said that the 2015 Australia Day Celebrations would also be held at Bella Vista Farm Park after many successful years at Balcombe Heights Estate.
“Bella Vista Farm really is the ideal place to celebrate Australia Day. This year’s theme of Australiana makes hosting the day at our rural and heritage oasis a no-brainer, particularly considering it will be the final day of the International Sand Sculpting Exhibition.”
Kate Ceberano will headline this year’s performers, which includes Simply Bushed and local country act Victoria Avenue.
“The Hills Visitor Economy generates $353 million, employs 2,300 people and I know that our events will boost these numbers even further.”
“I am really looking forward to the Summer Series and I think our residents and visitors will love it!”
