WA PREMIERE FOR HIGHLY ANTICIPATED ‘STREAMLINE’ AT CINEFESTOZ

The powerful debut feature from Tyson Johnston, Streamline, will proudly hold it’s WA Premiere at CinefestOZ Film Festival this August. Enjoy the glitz and the glamour of the red carpet arrivals before relishing this highly anticipated drama as the Closing Night film of the festival in Bunbury. The screening will conclude with an engaging filmmaker Q&A for audiences to get a glimpse into the production process.

Streamline tells the story of a prodigious 15-year-old swimmer who is forced to confront his childhood trauma after the release of his father from prison. The film was produced by Blake Northfield and Nathan Walker, executive produced by Australian Olympic gold medalist Ian Thorpe – who served as a consultant on the film – with Johnston penning the screenplay.

At 15 years old, Boy Lane is a swimming prospect with the world at his feet. Inside of the pool he lives a life of rigorous perfectionism. Outside of it, his existence is lonely and hollow. When his father shows up unannounced to his swim meet, it triggers his childhood trauma. The film is about Boy’s hard fought path to get back in the pool. To do so, he must confront and overcome the immense psychological obstacles which have controlled his life.

Featuring an incredible lineup of International and Australian talent, Jason Isaacs, Levi Miller, Laura Gordon, Jake Ryan, Sam Parsonson, Rob Morgan, Hunter Page Lochard and Isaac Drandic complete the cast of this engaging Australian production.

CinefestOZ CEO Malinda Nixon said the film’s inclusion to the CinefestOZ line-up was a fantastic exclusive for WA audiences to get behind.

“The entire team behind Streamline have done an incredible job to bring to life this powerful story of inner turmoil and tragedy,” she said.

“As we follow Boy throughout the film we’re aching for his triumph, and for him to find the courage to break the abusive cycle he’s confronted with. It’s a truly fantastic debut drama that Australian audiences will champion for years to come.”

The screening will include a post-film Q&A with filmmakers and a fantastic after-party event to close the festival in Bunbury. Your ticket includes canapes and drinks on arrival, with additional drinks available for purchase. The event will be a culmination of the week-long film festivities and brings together cinema-goers and industry professionals to a hub of the South West community.

“We’re thrilled to be hosting the WA Premiere at CinefestOZ in Bunbury. Our audiences will be eager to hear the behind the scenes insights and stories from filmmakers on how the production was created. The event will be a highlight in the festival calendar and should not be missed,” said Nixon.

Producer Blake Northfield said they’re honoured to be premiering the film to audiences at CinefestOZ.

“This festival is held in such high esteem in our industry and it’s such an honour to have Streamline play on the closing night. We look forward to being there for the Q&A and exploring everything WA has to offer,” he said.
