GREYHOUND SEQUEL SAILS INTO SYDNEY
Production is officially underway in New South Wales on the highly anticipated sequel to the Greyhound, the Academy Award-nominated WWII naval drama.
Greyhound 2 reunites Tom Hanks with Stephen Graham, alongside returning director Aaron Schneider and producer Gary Goetzman for Playtone. The new chapter follows Captain Krause and his crew from the beaches of Normandy into the Pacific theatre, as they help turn the tide of the war.
Backed by Screen NSW, the production will also complete post-production, digital and visual effects work in NSW — further cementing the state’s reputation as a global screen production hub.
The sequel is supported through Screen NSW’s Made in NSW Fund and is estimated to inject more than $100 million into the state’s economy while creating approximately 500 local jobs.
The Apple TV Original Film is a Playtone production starring Hanks — who once again penned the screenplay — alongside Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winner Graham. Post, digital and visual effects will also be supported through Screen NSW’s Post, Digital and Visual Effects (PDV) Rebate.
Greyhound 2 joins a growing slate of major international productions recently backed through the Made in NSW Fund, including Send Help directed by Sam Raimi and starring Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien; the The Artful Dodger; Netflix’s Apex starring Charlize Theron, Taron Egerton and Eric Bana; and Street Fighter, set for release in 2026.
Another major production has dropped anchor in NSW — and with it comes jobs, investment, and global attention firmly fixed on Australia’s thriving screen industry. ⭐
