UK COMEDIAN CHRISTOPHER HALL RETURNS TO AUSTRALIA WITH BRAND NEW SHOW, ‘PIZAZZ’
Viral sensation, comedian and all-round showman Christopher Hall, boasting an audience of over 1.2 million across TikTok and Instagram, returns to Australia this March and April with his brand-new stand-up show Pizazz.
Fresh off the back of his acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe run and following the launch of his smash-hit podcast Stay Hydrated, Christopher will take this theatrical, joyous and hilariously self-reflective new show to stages across Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
This is Christopher’s most flamboyant and heartfelt show yet. Once first on the dancefloor and last on the night bus, he now finds himself in his early mid-30s reckoning with the life-of-the-party version of himself he used to be. You can catch him on last leg of tour in Sydney 9th to 10th Comdey Club and Brisbane Powerhouse on 16th.
SPOTLIGHT QA WITH CHRIS
Q: You’ve described yourself as a born “showboy.” What was the very first “living-room extravaganza” you staged for your parents, and did it involve a costume change?
I remember putting on so many shows in my parents living room and recruiting my sisters or friends to be in it . A big day I remember is filming a fake alien documentary in the garden. We used my dad’s camcorder and I made about 8 family members be a part of this Blair Witch knock-off. No dancing but a big shoot day.
Q: You transitioned from cruise ship musicals and Soho dance-offs to global viral fame. Who were the mentors or comedic icons that gave you the “permission” to be this flamboyant on stage?
My friends played a huge part at the start of me posting content and moving into comedy. They were really supportive; they also have helped shape my comedy and come backs. Growing up Lily Savage and French and Saunders were big inspirations, and Alan Carr and Katherine Ryan more recently.
Q: Your Background Singers series has seen you collab with everyone from Shania Twain to the Jonas Brothers. If you had to pick one “pinch-me” moment from those sessions, which artist truly matched your energy?
We had such an amazing time with Dannii Minogue, she was so so lovely and we chatted to her and her team for an hour after we finished filming. Sugababes was a huge pinch me moment of last year too!
Q: We have to ask about your sister, Elizabeth. In your Background Singers rehearsals, who is the bigger diva, and has she ever actually “stormed out” over a dance move?
I think we can both bring diva energy in different ways. Like any partnership we’ve worked on the best way to get the best out of each other, but no storm outs hahah… Maybe one.
Q: Pizazz explores the shift from being “last on the night bus” in your 20s to reckoning with your 30s. What is the most “early mid-30s” thing currently on your rider or in your travel bag?
A water bottle and a book, I would never bring a book usually but I’m trying to read on public transport instead of scrolling, with little success.
Q: Australian audiences loved you during your last visit. What can fans who know you primarily from 60-second TikToks expect from a full-length, theatrical Christopher Hall experience?
A high energy relatable hour of stand up that makes you feel like you’re chatting with your best friend in your living room.
