Filming has officially wrapped in Brisbane on Bull (working title), a powerful new Australian feature drama helmed by award-winning director Jeffrey Walker (FING!, Alien, Who the Hell is Hamish?).
Inspired by a compelling true story, Bull centers on a fast-talking inmate who joins a prison debating team in a high-stakes bid to turn his life around and win back his mother’s pride. Armed only with words, courage, and a belief in redemption, he challenges the very institution that shaped him.
The feature boasts a heavy-hitting ensemble cast led by Queensland actor, writer, and producer George Pullar (Deadloch, Evil Dead Rise), who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Taylor Danforth.
Pullar shares the screen with a star-studded lineup of Australian cinema and television heavyweights, including:
Richard Roxburgh (Rake, Elvis)
Teresa Palmer (A Discovery of Witches, The Fall Guy)
Robyn Malcolm (Far North, Outrageous Fortune)
Thomas M. Wright (The Stranger, Barking Dogs)
Harrison Gilbertson (Oppenheimer, The Turning)
“It’s a deeply human story that shines a light on themes of trauma, masculinity, and rehabilitation,” said Screen Australia Chief Operating Officer Grainne Brunsdon. “Led by acclaimed director Jeffrey Walker, the film promises to bring a distinctly Australian perspective to these experiences in a way that will resonate with audiences at home and abroad.”
Producer Michael Lawrence highlighted the strength of the local collaboration following the production wrap.
“We are so appreciative to have been able to film this story in Brisbane with the support of a world-class cast, crew, and local partners who welcomed us from day one,” Lawrence said. “We’re deeply grateful for the investment in this bold, original story about courage, family, and the belief that people can change.”
