Kids across the globe are living out their unicorn fantasies after Spin Master Entertainment premiered Unicorn Academy on Netflix worldwide on Thursday 2nd November.
Unicorn Academy is the No. 9 program in Netflix Australia’s Top 10 TV Shows and No. 2 Top 10 Kids TV Shows. The show has achieved similar rankings in the UK, France, Germany, Belgium, and Nordic countries.
The new animated series is an adaptation of The New York Times bestselling book series by Julie Sykes. The show transports audiences to a magical world where the main character, Sophia™, goes on a journey from ordinary to extraordinary as she discovers her destiny as a unicorn rider.
Unicorn Academy is the boarding school of every kid’s dreams. Located on Unicorn Island, Sophia Mendoza and the rest of her classmates must bond with a unicorn to unlock their magical powers; only then can they learn to become revered protectors of the island and its magic – all while balancing their schoolwork and navigating new friendships.
The new series, launched with a 72-minute movie premiere and includes eight 22-minute episodes, is a tale of magic, friendship, and adventure, with a little bit of comedy thrown in for good measure. Viewers will see themselves in the characters as they’re invited into the ordinary lives of Sophia, Ava, Layla, Isabel, Valentina and Rory before the relatable teenagers are transported to a magical world of meadows, forests and distant deserts. On their journeys, the group will bond with unicorns of all shapes, sizes, colours and varying magical powers whilst facing epic adventures that are certain to live in kids’ memories forever more.

It’s not just tales of unicorns, friendship and heroic adventures that are set to make Unicorn Academy, Netflix’s latest hit. The show features an epic soundtrack including songs ‘Follow Your Heart’ and ‘Lights Out’, which are available to download now and are sure to have kids singing from the rooftops in 2023 and beyond.
