MEAN GIRLS FILM RELEASE AND REVIEW

The return of romcoms is proving popular and remakes and when you have the brilliant talent of the likes of Tina Fey writer and actress who has adapted her successful Broadway musical into a film then no doubt “MEAN GIRLS” reboot is a splendid version of it as it proves she put the right mix into this production after 20 years after the original Lindsay Lohan-led film.

It deserves to have a shout-out to give high credits to directors Samantha Jayne, and Arturo Perez. The film has a great frame with fast movement along with its musical numbers that are so upbeat and with such a talented picking of the cast this proves to make this into what I say will be a smash hit.
Interestingly Tina Fey had shared with the fans that they could be involved in casting actors back in 2020 for the film by sharing their dream cast on the project’s website and be featured in the musical film’s “burn book”. In May 2021, she suggested to Variety that the original cast members of the stage musical would likely not reprise their roles. She as one of the producers signed off with a brilliant cast and what a clever lady she is.

I was drawn to especially Christopher Briney who is Aaron, I had just seen him in Daliland and I do predict he be showing up in a lot of films as this is his second feature and he is a screen stealer and such an emerging talent. Avantika Vandanapu is also a standout here who adds to all the fun with her character and such fun to see Jon Hamm in a small role as Kevin, Mr Rapp, and Coach Carr, with a good ending surprise.
So the film is about new student Cady Heron (Angourie Rice) Love her role and is welcomed into the top of the social food chain by the elite group of popular girls called “The Plastics,” ruled by the conniving queen bee Regina George (Reneé Rapp) who is perfect for her role and her minions Gretchen (Bebe Wood) and Karen (Avantika). Divine pair. However, when Cady makes the major misstep of falling for Regina’s ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels (Christopher Briney), Love him in this role, she finds herself prey in Regina’s crosshairs. As Cady sets to take down the group’s apex predator with the help of her outcast friends Janis (Auli’i Cravalho) and Damian (Jaquel Spivey), she must learn how to stay true to herself while navigating the most cutthroat jungle of all: high school.
This will be a buzz for sure with all the younger audiences but be daring and go see it as it is great production of filmmaking and musical talent.
