Ahead of this week’s Queensland Music Awards, QMusic has announced the recipients of the 2024 scholarship awards, which sees five Queensland artists take a share of $75,000 of funding.
The awards include four annual legacy awards, presented by QMusic and proudly supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland, that honour the contributions of late and great iconic industry figures: Billy Thorpe, Carol Lloyd, Dennis ‘Mop’ Conlon and Grant McLennan.
Arts Minister Leeanne Enoch congratulated this year’s QMusic scholarship winners.
“The outstanding talent of the 2024 QMusic scholarship award winners and finalists reflects the amazing creativity and talent powering Queensland contemporary music,” Ms Enoch said.
“QMusic has an excellent track record for championing Queensland talent and the state’s international reputation as we prepare to amplify local music on the global stage at the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
“I can’t wait to hear this year’s QMusic scholars and finalists making their musical mark and adding the next verse of Queensland’s rich contemporary music heritage.”

Additionally, the newly-formed Dalwood-Wylie Foundation Scholarship marks a first for the Australian music industry. Privately funded by the Dalwood-Wylie Foundation, the award recognises a Queensland-based contemporary musician who lives with a disability to enable them to make significant progress in their career.
“It gives me great pleasure to give this inaugural scholarship from my foundation, the Dalwood-Wylie Foundation. This scholarship combines two of my passions, the arts and assisting those with a disability. I look forward to seeing what all the worthy applicants accomplish especially the 2024 winner, Ethan Roberts,” said Dalwood-Wylie Foundation Managing Director Helena Wylie.

“The quality of applicants, as always, has been extraordinarily high and we can’t wait to see where the funded projects lead these artists in years to come.
“While we are announcing these winners today, we are also looking forward to hosting the recipients at the Queensland Music Awards this week, it’s a great moment to celebrate their achievements along with a room full of the state’s most talented artists.”
The Queensland Music Awards will be held this Wednesday, 17 April at The Fortitude Music Hall.
