THE 12TH ANNUAL SAMPLE FOOD FESTIVAL RETURNS TO BANGALOW THIS SPRING
Sample Food Festival returns to the Bangalow Showgrounds for its 12th Annual Festival on Saturday 7th September 2024. The much-loved culinary festival will once again champion the region’s talented chefs, producers, distillers, brewers and artisans. Festival goers will have the opportunity to taste the best of Northern New South Wales all in one place this Spring.
Sample organisers have once again kept entry ticket prices and tasting plate prices the same as in previous years to allow for an affordable day out for the whole family to enjoy and eat local. A huge selection of special Sample Food Festival menus will feature $5 – $15 tasting plates curated by the attending Northern Rivers restaurants.
The Sample Food Festival cooking stage will be firing up with the crowd-favourite chef cook-offs and this year Northern Rivers Food will be bringing back their My Major Rules segment where mayors from local shires will be paired up with a local chef and challenged to cook up the best dish using a mystery box of local ingredients.
SampleFood Festival will also be showcasing the region’s award-winning distilleries, brewers and wine curators including Lord Byron Distillery, Brookies Gin, Birds of Isle, Stone and Wood, Little Dragon and The Cellar.
This year a reserved table ticket will be on offer guaranteeing a table for eight with shade in the bar area as well as festival entry. Limited capacity picnic experiences will once again be available for groups of up to six and include festival entry and a reserved picnic spot on a Wandering Folk picnic rug. Sample Food Festival’s littlest foodies will be able to enjoy a safe and fun dedicated kids area featuring collaborative art projects, sensory activities and take-home crafts.
The Sample Food Festival 2024 event program will kick off with the Fabulous Wine Ladies Soiree’ with Raid is Estate Wines on Thursday 29th August. The event will be held at the award-winning Forest Byron Bay restaurant by Crystalbrook and include a five-course dinner and matching wines. Forest will also be coming to the Sample Food Festival to serve up their unique take on farm-to-table fare featuring local and sustainably sourced ingredients.
Today Sample Food Festival also announces Norco as their major festival partner. Norco will be running the Cape Byron Ultimate Scoop competition on the day as well as offering the Cape Byron Lounge, a space for festival attendees to relax in and enjoy some tasty treats.
Event Director Rose Taylor said of the festivals return “You know those friends you haven’t seen for far too long and that list of restaurants you haven’t been to but have been talking about for ages, well we have pulled a bunch of these restaurants together. From Bruno’s down in Bellingen to Bonito Peruvian Eatery in Wollongbar, and many other returning favourites and newly opened restaurants, we twisted their arm into picking their favourite dishes from their menu and serving them up for $5-$15 so you and your favourite humans can all catch up in the most beautiful Showground and eat, laugh and be inspired until your tummies and hearts are full. We promise it’ll be packed with beautiful memories, effortless fun, and new experiences that will remind you why the Northern Rivers in Spring may just be the best place in the world.”
The 12th Annual Sample Food Festival will also feature a lifestyle stall area to explore and shop local featuring regional artisans and producers. The full restaurant line-up, live cooking stage program, workshops and more events will be announced soon.
