We reached out to some of our past recipients and asked some valuable questions around their experience of applying for the Natalie Miller Fellowship. We have shared Sian Mitchell’s insight below who was the 2022 recipient in hope that it will inspire others in their applications.
What made you want to apply for the Fellowship? – I think it is an incredible opportunity to support women’s leadership in the screen industry. It reminds us that we need more women in these positions to help create change.
How has the Fellowship been impactful for your career? – It was the push and support I needed to put into action ideas and plans I had been thinking about for a few years. By being successful with my proposal, I was then also accountable to go out and do what I said I was going to do, which has meant meeting new people (which I usually find daunting and intimidating), building much needed professional networks and bringing back everything I have learned from the experience to apply to the growth of MWFF.
Previous recipients have designed proposals for professional development that included secondments, overseas travel to film festivals and film markets, mentorships, leadership courses and much more.
