QPAC Abuzz as Pretty Woman: The Musical is Announced

Brisbane’s QPAC was buzzing today with the exciting announcement that Pretty Woman: The Musical is coming to town. Musician and Grammy® winner Bryan Adams, who was in Brisbane for a concert last night, was on hand alongside the show’s producer Jones Productions to share the news.

Adams revealed that the idea for the musical first surfaced 18 years ago when he approached Disney about adapting the beloved film. At the time, Disney wasn’t ready to take on a “hooker meets billionaire” storyline. But as the saying goes, timing is everything in showbiz. Following successful runs on Broadway and in Belfast—where Adams recently saw the production—he is thrilled to see it launching in Brisbane.

Casting is currently underway, with the producer eager to find the perfect performers to bring the iconic roles of Vivian and Edward to life. Julia Roberts’ role may have been found, but the search continues for the right actor to take on Richard Gere’s character, Edward.

Featuring direction and choreography by two-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde, Hairspray), an electrifying original score by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance (“Summer of ’69”, “Heaven”), and a book by legendary filmmaker Garry Marshall and screenwriter J.F. Lawton, Pretty Woman: The Musical brings a Hollywood classic to life like never before.

A timeless love story about two unlikely soulmates defying the odds, this dazzling production promises to be a must-see event that will uplift audiences and leave them spellbound.

Stay tuned for more updates but check out the interview today with Byron Adman’s and the Producer.

Sing up to be on list for tickets.
