Isabella Charlton Brings Hilarious, No-Holds-Barred Comedy Show to Melbourne International Comedy Festival
After making waves at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, comedian Isabella Charlton is set to bring her critically acclaimed one-woman show, So My Dad F**d the Nanny*, to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. The show, based on Charlton’s real-life experiences, is an uproarious and unapologetic deep dive into family secrets, personal growth, and the absurdities of love and betrayal.
Speaking with Isabella today, we got an insight into her and the show and how she started on our youtube channel.
Charlton, known for her razor-sharp wit and bold storytelling, takes audiences on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, recounting the scandalous affair between her father and the family’s nanny. Moving between London and Hong Kong, the show hilariously navigates the trials of adolescence, power struggles, and jaw-dropping surprises with an ironic twist.
An international comedy force, Charlton has performed stand-up across Los Angeles, Hong Kong, the UK, and Berlin. She has graced iconic venues such as The Comedy Store, The Improv, and The Laugh Factory in Hollywood and was featured as a Fresh Face at the Laugh Factory in 2018 and 2019. She has also competed in the Comedy Store’s Roast Battle and appeared on the Kill Tony podcast.
Her festival circuit résumé includes performances at the Big Sky Comedy Festival in Montana, the Seattle International Comedy Festival, the Boston Women in Comedy Festival, and the Laughing Skull Festival in Atlanta. Charlton has carved a reputation for her fearless comedic style and ability to transform deeply personal—and often outrageous—stories into side-splitting, relatable comedy.
