On Saturday, November 8, the iconic Ellis D Fogg will celebrate the launch of his new book with an unforgettable live experience at Paddington Uniting Church: Mr Fogg’s Last Lightshow.

Since the 1960s, Fogg has been a pioneering force in Australia’s events industry and counterculture art scenes. A founding member of the Yellow House Artist Collective (1970–73), he is widely recognised as Australia’s “Father of Lumino Kinetics.”

His groundbreaking practice, which combines light, movement, and sound, has been exhibited internationally in New York, New Delhi, Bangkok, Hong Kong, and Singapore, and is currently being featured at LIGHT SOURCE, a major survey of Australian light artists at the Australian National University, Canberra.

In this one-night-only event, Fogg will pass the torch to a new generation of visionary artists. A dazzling fusion of colour, music, and performance, the show is both a celebration of his influential six-decade career and a symbolic handover of his lightshow legacy.

The evening will be officially opened by acclaimed Australian folklorist and cultural historian Warren Fahey AM. Also appearing is special guest Francesca Emerson, author of ‘The Chocolate Bunny’, whose extraordinary journey has taken her from Harlem to the Playboy Mansion, and now to Goonellabah, NSW.

Audiences can expect an immersive, multi-sensory experience, with performances including:

LIQUIDELIC – mind-bending liquid light projections in the psychedelic tradition
AWUWA (Yao Mikami & Mico Sundari) – a healing yogic mantra
Blushmoor – lush, atmospheric sounds
Leonie Cohen – live piano, taking requests
“This has been an incredible journey,” said Fogg. “Mentoring these emerging artists and seeing where they’re taking the artform – it’s inspiring. We’re excited to share it with everyone.”

The new book’s title, “You are in the book!”, signals Fogg’s irreverent and inclusive ethos. The event will also feature rare archival footage from Fogg’s personal collection, capturing the spirit of the 1960s counterculture movement. As always, this last lightshow will blend rebellion, spirituality, and innovation, an energy he hopes future generations will carry forward.

“Everyone should feel the magic of a real lightshow,” he adds. “It’s a pure, transformative experience.”
