Ipswich Musical Theatre Company is proud to announce that its new production of Guys and Dolls, will open at the Ipswich Civic Centre on 7 September 2024, for a strictly limited season.
“Guys and Dolls is one of the greatest musicals of all time. It has more hit songs, more laughs and more romance than any show ever written” said IMTC’s Artistic Director, Brenda Ryan.
Guys and Dolls made its Broadway debut in 1950 and quickly became a sensation with 1,200 performances. The 1955 film adaptation, featuring stars like Frank Sinatra, Marlon Brando, Jean Simmons, and Vivian Blaine, further boosted its fame. The musical has seen several Broadway revivals, including a notable 1976 production with an African American cast and a 1992 version starring Nathan Lane as Nathan Detroit. Based on Damon Runyon’s vivid portrayal of New York City’s colorful underbelly, and enhanced by Frank Loesser’s memorable score, Guys and Dolls remains one of the most frequently staged musicals of all time.
