Mischief’s genuine, easy-going style has a relaxed quality that sets them apart from many young girl groups, giving them more of a boy band edge and appeal. The Music Network says; “Kick It Back has teen anthem plastered all over it” with sassy drums and bass driven verses, a catchy shout-out chorus tied together with a seriously cool, bass featured breakdown. Produced by Stuart Stuart (Sheppard, the Veronicas) and Swedish songwriter/producer Tormod Loekling, ‘Kick It Back’ is the first radio release for this exciting new group.
As an independent pop act, Mischief is up against the toughest global competition in the business but this hasn’t fazed the four talented young singers. Nicole Blair (20 – Far right), Eesha Hunjon (21 – Second right), Chevonne Nel (18 – Far Left) and Rachael Steel (19 – Second left) have spent close to two years developing an impressive mix of pop songs and are ready to launch their fresh new sound. “We are so excited to tell the world there is a new Australian girl group out there,” the girls said. “We don’t have a huge record label behind us or big budgets or anything but we are bringing everything we’ve got… We are all about creating music and performing songs that make people smile and feel great on the inside!”
When asked about their musical style? “Our music is definitely pop but with an Aussie twist that’s hard to define,” Eesha explained. “It’s like we’re singing at a party and everyone’s invited. We’re pretty relaxed actually…we like to keep everything real and connected, you know, not disconnected and trying to be perfect… because none of us are perfect!”
The group know they have a long and hard road ahead but feel grateful for the many artists that have already helped pave the way for Australian musicians and performers. “The world is getting behind more and more Australian singers and groups now thanks to amazing artists like Goyte, Sia, 5 Seconds of Summer, Sheppard and Iggy Azealia,” the girls agreed. “Australians are really quick to pick up on new music and that’s something we should be so proud of.” When asked what Mischief sees in their future? “There has never been a better time to make music and share it with everyone around the world and we are really excited to be part of this incredible music revolution.”
