American Idol is back and bigger than ever before. Packed with star power and music royalty, FOX8 brings you two nights of the highly anticipated series each week, EXPRESS from the US, every Monday and Tuesday at 8:15pm Qld time / 9:15pm AEDT from March 12, exclusive to Foxtel.
Award-winning host and producer Ryan Seacrest returns as host of the iconic series and leads a fresh panel of fierce judges, including international pop superstar Katy Perry, country music sensation Luke Bryan and music industry legend Lionel Richie. Each week these superstar judges will help determine who America will ultimately vote for to become the next American Idol.
The nationwide search for America’s next superstar and singing sensation kicked off in Portland, Oregon as the Idol Bus travelled to 23 cities across the US in pursuit of talent. Auditioning was made easier than ever as hopefuls also had the opportunity to submit audition videos online, as well as via select social media platforms using an official tag, #TheNextIdol. Also, for the first time in American Idol history, hopefuls had the opportunity to audition through a livestream platform.
The long-running, popular series has revolutionised the television landscape by pioneering the music competition genre and creating some of the biggest names in the music industry. Past winners of the series including multiple Grammy Award winners Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood as well as Grammy nominated starlet Jordin Sparks. Finalists have also gone on to achieve worldwide success, including pop sensation Adam Lambert and most notably Jennifer Hudson, who won an Academy Award, Golden Globe and Grammy Award since competing on the series.
American Idol 2018 screens EXPRESS from the US, every Monday and Tuesday at 8:15pm Qld time / 9:15pm AEDT from March 12 on FOX8, exclusive to Foxtel.
Following its broadcast on FOX8, American Idol 2018 will be available to watch from Foxtel’s on demand library, or streamed on demand on Foxtel’s streaming service, Foxtel Now.
