After 57 performances, a city-wide celebration which included gifting almost 300sqm of inspired urban art-on-concrete to the people of Brisbane, and more sparkles, breath-taking moves and soul-touching theatrics than ever seen before, the spectacular TOTEM by Cirque du Soleil is set to leave Brisbane after its final performance this Sunday evening.
Only 9 performances left of TOTEM in Brisbane before it moves on to continue its Australian tour!
The 110-strong cast and crew has spent almost nine weeks in Brisbane and has wholly embraced the city, it’s restaurants and bars, its open green spaces and parks, its art galleries and laneways, as well as the Gold and Sunshine Coasts. To say they are fans of Autumn in Queensland is an understatement!
After two extensions of the successful Brisbane season and close to 110,000 spectators, the Big Top will be going down on Monday before the 85 containers carrying the production move to Adelaide.
Since its World Premiere in 2010, more than 3.8 million people worldwide have been mesmerized by the intimacy and beauty of TOTEM. Featuring a cast of 46 acrobats, actors, musicians and singers, TOTEM is an uplifting array of athleticism, comedy, heartfelt emotions and surprising visual effects.
Written and directed by Robert Lepage, TOTEM traces the fascinating journey of the human species from its original amphibian state to its ultimate desire to fly. Somewhere between science and legend TOTEM explores the ties that bind Man to other species, his dreams and his infinite potential.
TOTEM is currently performing under its signature blue-and-yellow Big Top at Northshore Hamilton through May 24. For more information, visit www.cirquedusoleil.com.
