BASTILLE DAY CELEBRATIONS FOR LOCAL QUEENSLANDERS

CAST IN AUSTRALIAN PREMIERE

Bastille day celebrations have commenced today for four young Queensland dancers who have been given the chance of a lifetime; to perform on the Queensland Performing Arts Centre’s (QPAC’s) Lyric Theatre stage with Ballet Preljocaj as the young Snow White.

Announced earlier this year, Ballet Preljocaj will be bringing their critically acclaimed work Snow White, as an Australian premiere and part of the QPAC International Series.

Direct from France the company will perform only in Brisbane at the Lyric Theatre, QPAC from 2 to 11 September 2016.

Handpicked by Ballet Preljocaj, dancing in the role of the young Snow White are four young Queenslanders; Lily Naylor (aged 7, from Joyner), Anya Macdonald (aged 6, from Highvale), Zara Strelen (aged 7, from Taigum) and Sienna-Rose Polestico (aged 6, from Warner).

The local dancers will get the opportunity to share the same stage as fellow Australian, and Ballet Preljocaj company member Verity Jacobson.

Since her professional dance career began in 2007, Verity has worked with Choreographers such as Dean Walsh, Vicki Van Hout and Malia Johnson. She has toured with Empire of the Sun and after being asked to dance in a Preljocaj work in 2013, Verity joined Ballet Preljocaj full time in 2015.

Including Verity, Ballet Preljocaj will bring 24 of their dancers, including Emilie Lalande and Virginie Caussin who have been cast as Snow White for the QPAC season.

This highly-acclaimed work with costumes from world renowned fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier, music by Gustav Mahler performed live by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra; conducted by Johannes Fritszch will be like nothing seen on QPAC’s Lyric stage before.

Don’t miss out on your chance to see this phenomenal piece of dance, that traverses the darker side of the human condition and explores themes and ideas that are familiar to us all.

Ballet Preljocaj’s Snow White comes to the Lyric Theatre, QPAC from 2 to 11 September 2016; an exclusive Brisbane season as part of the QPAC International Series.
