THE BEAUJOLAIS NOUVEAU FRENCH CULTURAL EVENTS ALLIANCE FRANCAISE DE BRISBANE 2019
The Beaujolais nouveau, widely regarded as one of the most popular French cultural events and celebrated all over the world, is returning to Brisbane. Alliance Française de Brisbane is delighted to host the 2019 Beaujolais nouveau on November 23rd from 4pm-6pm at Newstead House.
Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased online via the Alliance Française website. With the ticket, guests will be treated to two glasses of Beaujolais nouveau, perfectly paired with a chef’s selection of premium cheeses, charcuterie, and other delicacies.
To present the 2019 Beaujolais vintage, we have the pleasure of welcoming Nathalie Tacquet. The owner of Bottli, Nathalie has a passion for sharing quality French wine in Australia, from which her business was born. Apart from other ventures, her vision is offering home-delivered discovery packs of French wines, to introduce people to the art of drinking and savouring fine wines.
Beaujolais Nouveau is France’s most famous “primeur” – a young wine that is produced quickly – and approximately 25 million bottles are produced every year. The rise to fame was bolstered by well-known producer Georges Dubeouf, who created the tagline: “Beaujolais Nouveau est arrivé!”, which is used in marketing materials for the wine.
It is bottled only a few weeks after harvest, so the winemakers require special artisanal techniques and yeasts to accelerate the fermentation process. Beaujolais Nouveau is produced using carbonic maceration, or whole-berry fermentation, to preserve the fresh and fruity quality of the grapes without extracting bitter tannins from the skins.
The origins of Beaujolais Nouveau can in fact be traced back about a century, where it came about as a cheap and cheerful beverage produced by locals to celebrate the end of harvest season. It has since evolved and the celebration has circulated beyond France.
Alliance Française de Brisbane is very pleased to import this special and exclusive wine direct from France, give the community in Brisbane and surrounding areas a chance to experience this popular global celebration.
