Debut novel Maiden Webb celebrates post-war Wynnum through the remarkable true story of six local sisters.
Wynnum, Queensland, 2nd July 2026 — Wynnum Fringe will host the official launch of Maiden Webb, the debut autobiographical novel by Brisbane writer and creative producer T.W.S. Armstrong, in a free community event bringing together all six Webb sisters whose lives inspired the book.
Set against the backdrop of post-war Wynnum and Moreton Bay, Maiden Webb is a moving portrait of family, resilience, destiny, and the quiet heroism of ordinary Australians. Through the eyes of the Webb sisters and the author, the novel captures a disappearing Queensland way of life, one shaped by hardship, humour, community spirit and the enduring rhythm of the bay.
Hosted by Wynnum Fringe CEO/Artistic Director Tom Oliver, the launch event will feature live conversation with author T.W.S. Armstrong and all six Webb sisters, offering audiences a rare opportunity to hear first-hand stories from the family behind the novel.
“Maiden Webb began as an attempt to preserve family memories,” said Armstrong. “But it became something larger, a story about how destiny is shaped by the people who raise us, the places that define us, and the resilience required to endure life’s greatest challenges. It is my love letter to Wynnum, to family, and to a generation whose stories deserve to be remembered.”

Armstrong is an award-winning creative producer, writer, and designer whose previous theatre work includes the Brisbane Powerhouse productions, True West, Sex with Strangers, Brisbane Festival’s Bang! Bang! and Wheel of Fortune, presented at Metro Arts. Maiden Webb marks his first published novel available in paperback and eBook at amazon.com.au
The event forms part of the 2026 Wynnum Fringe free program and is expected to attract readers, local history enthusiasts, community members and residents interested in one of Brisbane’s most authentic stories of place and family.
