“Blue Collar Boys” Now Available for the Holidays Two-time award winning film gets worldwide release
Los Angeles, CA, December 12, 2014—Blue Collar Boys, a two-time award winning feature film written and directed by Mark Nistico (Silent Sea Productions), is now available for rental and purchase worldwide. Shot entirely in New Jersey with the help of over 20 local businesses, the critically acclaimed action/drama Blue Collar Boys stars Gabe Fazio (The Place Beyond the Pines) as frustrated construction worker Charles “Red” Redkin whose father, played by Bruce Kirkpatrick (The Wire), is forced into debt by ruthless developers played by Ed Setrakian (Zodiac) and Lev Gorn (The Americans). As the pressure of a foreclosure threatens the Redkin family home, Red and his friends are propelled into a life of crime to get cash fast.
Designated “a searing reflection of our times” by Brave New Hollywood, Blue Collar Boys won the Best Micro-budget Feature award at the 2011 Toronto Independent Film Festival and won Best Screenplay at the 2012 Hoboken International Film Festival. The film recently held a limited theatrical release, when LA Weekly called it the most politically appropriate film in theaters, and was included into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Permanent Core Collection for 2014. FilmThreat.com states, “[Blue Collar Boys] resonates with its focus of an angry and alienated microcosm of the 99 percent who find the American dream is evaporating before their eyes,” describing the film as “a raw and visceral experience.”
