Bluesfest has been nominated for the THIRD year in a row in the Annual Pollstar Awards

BLUESFEST NOMINATED THREE YEARS IN A ROW FOR ‘INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL OF THE YEAR’ IN POLLSTAR AWARDS – IT’S A RECORD !!!

Bluesfest has been nominated for the THIRD year in a row in the Annual Pollstar Awards – the winner to be announced Feb 21 2015 in Nashville, USA.

Bluesfest Director, Peter Noble says:
“Bluesfest is honored to once again be nominated in this most prestigious of Industry Awards, short-listed and voted for by our peers. There are so many amazing Festivals all over the world these days, and to be nominated once was great, twice was amazing… and now three times in consecutive years … we are both honored and humbled by this announcement.
In the 12 years this award has been running, we have now been nominated 5 times – no other Australian Festival has achieved this – and only a handful of festivals globally have been so honored !!

I would like to congratulate the other festivals nominated this year.

From the UK there is of course Glastonbury, and also the long-running Isle of Wight Festival. From Brazil, their very own take on the Lollapalooza Festival: from Switzerland comes the Paléo Festival Nyon (celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2015 !!) and from Spain the beautiful Primavera Sound Festival, which has the most scenic and picturesque setting – ever … even rivaling the magical Woodfordia in Queensland. Belgium has two incredible festivals nominated – the massive Rock Werchter and the now gigantic ‘bucket list’ festival Tomorrowland. Congratulations to you all.

Glastonbury has taken this award on every occasion in which they were nominated – in the two other years it was also another UK festival that was successful.

With the spread of genres and countries represented here I sincerely hope that a country outside of the UK is successful –
and WHAT A FIRST IT WOULD BE IF BLUESFEST WAS SUCCESSFUL !!

Finally … I would like to pay tribute to all festivals – whatever genre they serve, wherever they are held – and whatever size they are, and their respective festival directors, curators and equally importantly, their staff. The staging of a festival is incredibly complex and to see so many not just exist, but grow year on year, and provide audiences with some of the greatest shows on earth – it makes me proud to count myself – and my incredible team – as part of this industry. CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU ALL.

May the best festival be victorious – but let’s hope its BLUESFEST !!!”
