Brisbane is preparing to come alive this September as Brisbane Festival 2026 delivers one of its most accessible programs yet, with more than 70 per cent of events free, inviting locals and visitors alike to experience the city’s biggest cultural celebration.
From dazzling riverside spectacles and family-friendly adventures to community celebrations, music, dance and wellness experiences, this year’s festival offers something for every age and interest.
One of the major highlights is Bright Nights, presented in partnership with ANZ, which will transform the Brisbane River with a spectacular fusion of lasers, light and sound. The immersive experience will feature an exclusive soundtrack by The Veronicas alongside a powerful Welcome to Country and storytelling experience by Traditional Owner Shannon Ruska.
No Brisbane Festival would be complete without the city’s signature event, Riverfire by Australian Retirement Trust 2026, which will once again illuminate the skyline with breathtaking fireworks launched from bridges, barges and rooftops, following the always-popular RAAF flyover.
South Bank will again become the beating heart of the festival, with the Festival Village offering an exciting day-to-night destination packed with free and ticketed live music, workshops, family entertainment, talks and interactive experiences throughout the festival.
Families can step into a world of adventure with the Fijian Flying Circus, where daring acrobatics, island storytelling and vibrant Fijian culture combine beneath the big top in a magical production filled with excitement and heart.
Returning by popular demand is the much-loved Common People Dance Eisteddfod, where neighbours, workmates and local legends from across South East Queensland swap everyday life for the dance floor in a spirited suburban showdown full of laughs, energy and community pride.
Festival-goers looking to begin the day differently can experience DAYBREAKER, the internationally acclaimed alcohol-free morning celebration that blends music, dance, wellness and connection into an uplifting sunrise event.
Meanwhile, the Moorooka Block Party celebrates its fifth anniversary with an exciting program of live music, multicultural food, dance performances, artisan markets and family activities, showcasing the vibrant diversity that makes Brisbane’s south side so unique.
