Betty Bombshell Brings Gatsby Glamour to Brisbane Festival
Presented by Brisbane Festival in association with Blackbird and Twelfth Night Theatre
Step inside a world where the champagne never stops flowing, the music never fades, and the night belongs to you. This September, Brisbane Festival audiences are invited to experience The Green Light, an intoxicating blend of cabaret, variety, and contemporary music inspired by F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby.
The glittering spectacle will transform the Twelfth Night Theatre into Brisbane’s hottest new club — The Green Light — owned, of course, by the enigmatic Gatsby himself. Guests can sip on a perfectly mixed gin martini while being swept into a world of electrifying aerial performances, dazzling costumes, soaring vocals, and hypnotic choreography. Every moment is designed to immerse you in the glamour, excess, and romance of both the roaring 1920s and the bold energy of the 2020s.
This is not just a show; it’s a celebration — marking the 100th anniversary of Fitzgerald’s timeless novel. The Twelfth Night Theatre, a beloved Brisbane icon, will be reimagined as a jazz age paradise, brimming with vitality and allure. The venue’s revival as a jewel of the cabaret scene promises an atmosphere where “among the whisperings and the champagne and the stars,” anything feels possible.
At the heart of it all is Betty Bombshell — the magnetic performer whose presence brings Gatsby’s world to life. Known for her powerhouse stagecraft and irresistible charisma, Betty promises a night of decadence, delight, and just a touch of danger.
