Brisbane’s Emporium Hotel takes international title at World Travel Awards in Hong Kong
Brisbane’s Emporium Hotel has shone at the 2015 World Travel Awards in Hong Kong, taking the title of Australia’s Leading Boutique Hotel against a lineup of the country’s best.
The award was won during a glittering night which saw the top operators from around the globe celebrated – and Emporium Hotel led the way for Australia. This comes following the independently owned and operated luxury hotel winning Best Luxury Accommodation for the third year running at the Queensland Tourism Awards recently, and officially entering the Tourism Hall of Fame.
The World Travel Awards title was won against competition from The Cullen Arts Series Hotel, Cape Lodge in Margaret River, Gaia Retreat & Spa, Medusa Boutique Hotel Sydney, The Henry Jones Art Hotel, The Langham, The Lyall Hotel & Spa, The Prince in Melbourne and Woodbridge on the Derwent.
The World Travel Awards serves to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry.
This stunning achievement is an extraordinary testament to the Emporium Hotel’s independent ownership, leadership, team and experience offerings. A jewel in Queensland’s and Australia’s tourism crown, the hotel is consistently recognized nationally and internationally as the best of the best. Being honored at the World Tourism Awards is a major coup.
Emporium Hotel General Manager Peter Savoff said the award was a reflection of each and every team member’s commitment to every day excelling in whatever their role. “Honours like this do not come easily, and we are humbled and thrilled at the same time,” he said.
“Last night’s win was achieved by every single staff member; it was won by the owners in Tony and Fran John who seven years ago opened the doors to what was a new and exciting tourism offer for the country – a boutique, independently owned and operated luxury hotel, one defined by a very directional design and service commitment.
“This vision and courage has paid off for not only the team, but for Brisbane as an exciting international city, and for the State of Queensland, and indeed, for Australia. We could not be more proud.”
Works have already begun on a second luxury Emporium Hotel, set to feature in the $650 million Southpoint development at South Bank. Like Emporium Hotel, Southpoint will introduce exciting new levels of design, service and luxury to Australia. lastpieceofsouthbank.com.au
