Carole King tribute a Tapestry of hits

One of the most celebrated albums of the 1970s will be reimagined as Carole King’s pop masterpiece
Tapestry is brought to the Brisbane Powerhouse stage by Australian vocalists Vika Bull and Debra Byrne
next month.

Onstage from 9 to 12 August, the iconic performers, along with The Brill Band, will perform songs of the
most successful and revered female songwriter in pop music history in Tapestry: The Songs of Carole
King.

Artistic Director of Brisbane Powerhouse Kris Stewart said, as one of the most important pop albums of
the 20th century, Tapestry produced the mega hits I Feel the Earth Move, You’ve Got A Friend, (You
Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, It’s Too Late and Will You Love Me Tomorrow.
“Released in 1971, this album produced a tapestry of hits and was Number One on the Billboard 200
chart for 15 weeks, with more than 25 million copies sold worldwide,” said Mr Stewart.

“You would be hard pressed to find a household that didn’t have a copy of Tapestry in their music
collection and we’re thrilled to be able to bring these songs to life once more through two such talented
Australian performers as Vika Bull and Debra Byrne.”

Tapestry: The Songs of Carole King was created by the producer/director of the smash hit At Last: The
Etta James Story, don’t miss this heartfelt and passionate tribute to Carole King.
Vika Bull is best known as one half of duo Vika and Linda, and Debra Byrne is perhaps best known as
one of the founding cast members of Young Talent Time and her starring roles in some of Australia’s
most loved musicals.
