Today a sneak preview in his final role as director and Queensland Theatre Company’s Artistic Director, Queensland’s Wesley Enoch recreates the magic and chaos of the beloved 1968 film THE ODD COUPLE starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau with a stunning cast led by powerhouse actors Jason Klarwein and Tama Mathieson. Official opening night of The Odd Couple is this coming Thursday, October 22.
The classic comedy from Pulitzer Prize and multiple Tony Award-winning American playwright and screenwriter Neil Simon, THE ODD COUPLE is the hilarious and very real story of friendship and unexpected flatmates.
Klarwein reunites with Matheson after their brilliant coupling in the 2013 production Design For Living, set in 1930s Paris and their work in Michael Attenborough’s chilling reimagining of Macbeth. Klarwein will play the role of slovenly sports journalist Oscar and Matheson, Felix. They are joined onstage by Tim Dashwood (Managing Carmen), Amy Ingram (The Seagull, I Want to Know What Love Is, Trollop), Lauren Jackson (Macbeth), Bryan Probets (Design for Living), Steven Rooke (Gasp, Kelly, Macbeth) and Colin Smith (Black Diggers).
The Odd Couple plays through until 8 November at the Playhouse, QPAC.
