Brisbane Powerhouse is ready to bring the laughs to the weekend when Livewired Comedy returns to Brisbane Powerhouse from Sunday 14 July with an hilarious hour of the best FREE live comedy in Brisbane.
After 5 years, Brisbane Powerhouse is shaking up it’s free comedy program and moving Knockoff, the weekly free comedy event on a Friday evening, to Sunday and welcoming back the original name, Livewired Comedy.
It’s the same event – Brisbane’s best local and visiting comedians live on stage serving up an hour of free rib-cracking laughs – just with a fresh look.
Brisbane Powerhouse Artistic Director, Kris Stewart is keen to bring the laughs back to Sunday and ward off those Monday blues.
“Brisbane is a busy place, especially on a Friday night. We saw Knockoff pumping each week but also knew there was a lot of other amazing events going on around the city. And our guest comedians were also feeling the pressure with multiple gigs and double-ups in schedules,” said Stewart.
“We wanted to welcome more people to chill out at Brisbane Powerhouse over the weekend. With the Jan Powers Framers Markets bringing the crowds every Saturday for fresh food and treats, we decided to make Sunday the day for laughs and hanging out with your mates before the work week starts.”
Previously programmed on Sunday afternoons was Livespark, a weekly free live music gig. With this event taking a hiatus for 2019, Livewired Comedy has stepped up to keep the entertainment fresh and jokes sharp.
“Free weekly comedy was moved to the Friday in 2014 because there was confusion with Livespark and Livewired Comedy on the same day. With Livespark taking a break as a weekly event we are excited to go back to the original program of free weekly comedy on a Sunday,” Stewart continued.
Make your Sunday the starting point for an amazing week full of belly laughs, catching up with mates and getting to know the best in the local comedy scene.
There’s no better way to forget about Monday than with a cracking Sunday! Don’t miss Livewired Comedy’s return on Sunday 14 July.
