
Tickets now on sale for Disney: The Magic of Animation
With less than two months until Disney: The Magic of Animation opens at Queensland Museum, tickets are now on sale for the exhibition – and a full program of themed events – for fans eager to step behind the scenes of their favourite animated films.
The exhibition, which features hundreds of exceptional art pieces spanning almost a century of magical Disney animation, showcases the artistry and technological innovations that have brought to life some of the world’s greatest characters.
Curated by the team at the Walt Disney Animation Research Library, Disney: The Magic of Animation is a not-to-be-missed exhibition for Disney fans of all ages.
Minister for the Arts Leeanne Enoch said magic is about to happen for Queenslanders awaiting the chance to enjoy Queensland Museum’s new exhibition Disney: The Magic of Animation.
“From 24 June, Queensland Museum is set to become the happiest place in Brisbane,” Minister Enoch said.
“More than 7000 eager fans have already signed up to the ticket waitlist, and now everyone has the opportunity to book for this once-in-a-lifetime creative journey through Disney’s timeless animation.
“This showcase from one of the world’s most-loved creative studios, offers a glimpse behind the scenes of the Walt Disney Animation Studios with more than 500 original sketches of rare and unique artworks dating back to 1928.
“The Queensland Government supports Queensland Museum to present enriching and enchanting experiences for Queenslanders and visitors to the state.
“Disney: The Magic of Animation exhibition from 24 June 2022 to 22 January 2023 is a great way for Queensland Museum to celebrate its 160th year,” Ms Enoch said.
Queensland Museum Network CEO Dr Jim Thompson said Disney fans had been waiting in anticipation for the first ticket release.
“We’ve had record numbers sign up to the waitlist for Disney: The Magic of Animation and I am pleased to let people know tickets are now on sale for not only the exhibition, but our full program of themed events,” Dr Thompson said.
“Our popular After Dark and A Night at the Museum events will be returning as part of Disney: The Magic of Animation, along with an imaginative school holiday program, inspiring Little Learners and a range of activities, special talks and more.
“We’re looking forward to opening the exhibition and presenting this fantastic array of events and activities that will bring the magic of Disney to Queensland Museum.”
Disney: The Magic of Animation will take visitors on a journey through timeless scenes from some of their favourite movies to discover how animation artists use colour to express emotions, and the technical skills of crafting character and stories.
Get set to be inspired by the beautiful artistry behind your favourite characters and discover how drawings are brought to life, from pencil and paper to today’s computer-generated wonders in Disney: The Magic of Animation at Queensland Museum from 24 June 2022 – 22 January 2023.

Join us when the sun goes down to explore the entire museum including Disney: The Magic of Animation exhibition. Take part in hands-on activities, torchlight tours and popup shows, delicious food and then wind down with a movie before it’s lights out.
On Sunday morning, recharge with breakfast in our Café Muse before unleashing your inner scientist in SparkLab.

Mini Disney Discovery – November 2022
To celebrate Mickey and Minnie’s birthday month, little learners and their carers can take an enchanted adventure through Disney: The Magic of Animation exhibition.
Our museum Learning Officer will take our smallest visitors on a trail through the exhibition to discover the magic of Disney followed by a hands-on creative activity.
This special Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse experience also comes complete with take-home showbag of official Mickey or Minnie ears and fun activities.

Our Sensory Friendly Sessions create a supportive environment where people of all ages can spend quiet time, wander at their own pace, and engage in conversations with museum staff.
There will be a designated quiet area and earmuffs are available from the Cloakroom on Level 2, SparkLab and Disney: The Magic of Animation exhibition entries.
