FEARLESS CIRCUS COMPANY RETURN TO BRISBANE POWERHOUSE WITH NEW SHOW

Brisbane Powerhouse presents Landscape with Monsters. A Circa and Merrigong Theatre Company Co-Production. Created by Yaron Lifschitz and the Circa Ensemble.

Internationally acclaimed company, Circa return to Brisbane Powerhouse with the breathtaking new circus-theatre Landscape with Monsters from 22-25 February.
Yaron Lifschitz and the fearless Circa ensemble have forged a new type of circus. Bursting with the thrills expected from a Circa performance, industrial objects intersect with fast-paced aerobatics in this intensely physical new show that is at once humorous and brutal, savage and beautiful.
“There are no traditional circus acts, no trapezes and not a red nose in sight,” said Circa Artistic Director Yaron Lifschitz. “Instead, from a world of simple wooden boxes, a hard floor and tall metal structures, the meeting between ourselves and our environment is thrillingly brought to life.”
“Amongst the tensions of the acrobats are beautiful moments of lightness, touching on the humanity and romance of the people represented in the landscapes,” said Lifschitz.

Landscape with Monsters tells the story of post-industrial cities now in decay. Set to a soundtrack that mixes popular song and electronic music, the performance is full of astonishing feats of human strength that are the hallmarks of a Circa performance.

Brisbane Powerhouse Artistic Director Kris Stewart is excited to welcome Circa back to the Powerhouse Theatre and knows Brisbane audiences will embrace this energetic new show.
“Circa’s award-winning works have been seen in 37 countries across six continents, and their reputation is so great that the world’s best circus artists and acrobats apply to be part of the company. We are lucky enough that they call Brisbane home and we have the chance to see brand new works from them regularly,” said Stewart.
“Landscape with Monsters is a bold new piece of theatre from Circa. It will excite, intrigue and leave audiences asking if they are actually the monsters living within the landscapes that surround us. This is one not to be missed.”
Circa will be performing the limited season of Landscape with Monsters at Brisbane Powerhouse from 22-25 February, before they take the show South. Tickets on sale now.
