THE GIRL IN SPIDER WEB

RELEASED NOW

The original Girl With the Dragon Tattoo novel, written by the late Stieg Larsson, was first adapted into a Swedish film in 2009, with Noomi Rapace as the vengeful, gothy computer hacker Salander. Rapace reprised the role in two sequels, The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest. Director David Fincher and actress Rooney Mara then teamed up for the 2011 American remake of Dragon Tattoo.

The latest instalment with lead Claire Foy has her employed by a Fired National Security Agency, Frans Balder recruits hacker Lisbeth Salander (FOY )to steal FireWall, a computer program that can access codes for nuclear weapons worldwide. The download soon draws attention from an NSA agent who traces the activity to Stockholm.

There is plenty of action and over the top to the degrees of unreal and can be looked at irritating at times in the film, but Clare Foy keeps you engaged with her performance enough to get to the final chapters that bring closure for her as to her own personal life that you see in many flashbacks of her early life. The rest of cast stars Sverrir Gudnason, Lakeith Stanfield, Sylvia Hoeks, Stephen Merchant and Vicky Krieps.
