Flickerfest, Australia’s largest Short Film Festival, is excited to be bringing its National Tour to the ​Palace Cinemas James St Brisbane Thursday 4t​ h​ March ​showcasing the ​Best of Australian Shorts ​programme.

The programmes present a selection of entertaining, inspiring and award-winning films hand-picked from the festival’s 2,700 entries, giving local Flickerfest audiences the first look at the hottest shorts in the world today.
Highlights from the ​Best of Australian Shorts​ ​include the fabulous ​Roborovski​, which won The Yoram Gross Award For Best Australian Animation at Flickerfest 2021 ​by actors Tilda Cobham-Hervey​ ​and Dev Patel who step behind the camera to direct this animated short about an adorable miniature hamster seeking revenge, penned by Oscar nominated writer John Collee​ ​(​Happy Feet​). Queensland films also feature large in the programme, including delightful Brisbane comedy ​Smashed​ ​produced by Kristie Yates, written and directed by Tyson Yates, where f​aced with the potential of losing their long-term Queensland share house, two twenty-something’s scheme a haunted plan to keep their home and their smashed avo breakfasts, insightful and moving drama ​Torchsong​ ​by Stephen Lance ‘An XXY teenager is rejected by his father at a suburban burning man ceremony’ and delightfully purfect romcom A Man And A Cat​ b​ y Kevin Spink, where a man’s relationship with his feline companion knows no bounds. Brisbane actress Anna McGahan (​Anzac Girls, Underbelly​) goes behind the camera as writer and co-director of the stunning​ Liquid Moonlight ​alongside the beautiful Bala​ from Bangara Dance Theatre’s choreographer Deborah Brown joining more of the very best shorts on the big screen from Brisbane filmmaking talent.
