3-1THE GOLD COAST INDIE FILM TV NETWORK NEXT EVENT MAY 29th PRESENTS  DIRECTOR BEN BOULTBEE.

Mark May 29th in your calendar because boy- do we have a few treats to present to you! The GCIFTN is always excited about who we have to showcase and MC Caroline Russo couldn’t be more proud to share the fantastic talent she’s been working with. There is one person in particular who she is very excited about sharing- a man who is a master at what he does and has an inspiring life story to back him up. But of course, that will all be kept very HUSH HUSH until you meet him on the night, where he will demonstrate something quite unique.

Also, the GCIFTN will be showing, for the first time, a local short film titled “Theif”- written and directed by Ben Boultbee and produced by Ben Boultbee, Natasha Cali and Mirko Grillini. The final edits have been made just in time for Ben Boultbee along with his cast and crew to unveil the finished project to the industry.  Q&A will follow this with a few of the cast members and the director. Ben Boultbee  who is the owner and director of Brisbane Media Australia, is very excited about being able to showcase the film at the GCIFTN.

Ben Boultbee started working in the film industry in 1989 working his way to Focus Puller. He has worked on such films as:

Calendar Girls  (Clapper Loader 2nd Unit)

High Heels and Low Lives (Clapper Loader)

Babe 2 – in Australia  (Clapper Loader for Special effects unit)

Saving Grace (Clapper Loader)

Eroica – The story on Beethoven’s Third symphony (Clapper Loader and Focus Puller)

Dead Fish (Clapper Loader)

+ 500 + U.K and Australian based dramas, commercials, and pop promos.

In 1994 Ben attended New York University’s film school where he completed an intensive summer film workshop, and was merited with distinction. Out of fifty scripts submitted on the course, Ben’s was one of five to be made into a short film. He has since made two other short films.

The story of “Theif” is based on a dirty cop who has pinned a double murder on an unsuspecting kleptomaniac. Dirty Cop, Detective Maro Rossi, is on the verge of being arrested as two criminals who he has had a long standing relationship with, have been caught with a significant amount of cocaine. They are given an ultimatum- to name the supplier or to face a lengthy prison sentence. As the detective is the supplier of the cocaine it doesn’t take him long to figure out what the criminals will do.  Dirty Cop will either accept his face and go to prison or get rid of them for good. He decides on the latter option with a  plan in mind.

A well-known local kleptomaniac lives in the same block as the drug dealers, making him an easy target. The detective works out a way he can set up the kleptomaniac to take fall for the murders. All is going to plan until the detective realizes that this guy might be a little more complex than he expected….

For the entertainment side we are very pleased to present to open the night  a duo act “Steel Strings and Honey” John knows how to put the rock into rock and roll. John also passes his experience to his many students through his role as long time Manager and Music Teacher of Bayside Music School “Learn Music.” The other half, Honey, also known as Renae is one of the sweetest voices from this side of the Pacific, with a personality to match. Her passion shines through her music and can be heard in every little word she sings.

To close the evening I am very pleased also to say that I have the return of Jordyn Yarker who is back from LA for a little while and she will give us a update of what has happened and perform her latest song.

Also on the evening we shall select to introduce up and coming film maker to view their work as each network draws all types of industry workers and GCIFTN aims to support as many as we can and to grow in showing their work.
