EMPORIUM HOTEL PRESENTS GeorgeGross/ HarryWHO AW13: HIGH TEA AND HIGH FASHION
HUSH HUSH BIZ FASHION ASSIGNMENT BY SAMANTHA MILNE
George Gross and Harry Watt are two of Australia’s most prolific and respected fashion designers. Their creations have been thriving since the ’70s, worn by the likes of Elle MacPherson and the late Princess Di. Emporium Hotel presented the exclusive Queensland launch of their GeorgeGross/HarryWHO Autumn/Winter 2013 collection at their first High Fashion High Tea of the year on Thursday.
“We’re very serious about our cuts,” said George. “Cuts and quality fabrics.” This was plain to see, and it has been their philosophy for forty years, since the launch of their first collection. Their style is refined and classic, punctuated with stunning detail.
Metallic stretch leather and was a particularly strong feature of this collection; black, cream, charcoal, and pewter being the hues of choice; with some striking red and emerald pieces sprinkled in between. Eveningwear glistened: satin, beading, and sequins. Looser fits and jersey striped in black plus red or white made for more casual looks.
The GeorgeGross/HarryWHO Autumn/Winter 2013 collection is available in stores and online now. Visit www.gghw.com.au/ to check it out, and perhaps even indulge yourself.
