2013 Dragon Boat Festival.
Chinese Festival Gala Dragon Boat race for 2013 brought out thousands yesterday October 6th at the Parklands Southport Broadwater, and with a perfect day of weather and international guests from China you could not ask for anything better commented ‘Ted Fong” the President of the Gold Coast Chinese Community Club. The free event brought out the Lion dancing and food stalls, and cooking demonstration, and other artists that performed throughout the day. Next year the event is to get bigger as to the fact of the China Town that will be opening up mid next year in Southport, and the light rail should be on track that will add more visitors to come and join the festival that will then be in its 29th year of racing dragon boats. It is looking like it will receive more backing from the local government in aid to keep this festival a growing attraction for the Gold Coast
. The winners of the day in the racing were NSW McDonalds State of Origin as to the International race ,Gold Coast table tennis association won the Ray White Runaway Bay group.
