Embracing the appetite for bite-sized content, Network Ten has picked up comedy web series Stage Mums and will premiere it on Sunday 14th October on ELEVEN. Stage Mums will air at 8.30pm with an ENCORE screening on Friday and will also be available on TENPLAY.

Stage Mums is a comedy series comprising eight episodes with a running time of approx. seven minutes each. The series features a female-heavy production team and cast; created and written by Anna Waters-Massey, directed by Louise Alston (Back of The Net, Neighbours) and produced by Anna and Kris Maric (OZPIX Entertainment).

Filmed on the Gold Coast last year, Stage Mums is a comedy about two besties, Shaz and Trace, who will do anything in their power to make their quadrupley talented daughters famous. Their plans are constantly thwarted by their arch nemesis Amanda Kingsford-Smythe and her entitled daughter Penelope. Think Kath and Kim meets Dance Moms, throw in some Absolutely Fabulous and then you have Stage Mums.

Director, Louise Alston said, “Stage Mums is all heart. Making it was more fun than a regional eisteddfod championship win. With more team work than a gold medal team tap routine. At its heart is the love (dreams, wishes, ambitions and disappointments) between Mums and daughters and between women friends. I enjoyed a fabulous creative team and all the colour and vibrancy of Gold Coast locations. Stage Mums is comedy in the glamorous underbelly of show biz.”

The cast includes Anna Waters-Massey (We Were Tomorrow, Adult Conversations), Tara Page (White lines, Lady Killer) with Cleo Massey (H2O Just Add Water, Cursed, The little Things) and Samantha Pearce (Henry Haus, Lady’s Day) playing their respective daughters. Joining them are Gerry Connolly (Fast Forward, Kath & Kim, Dead Gorgeous) and Brooke Lee (Mako Mermaids, The Circle). The ensemble cast includes Stephen Massey (Crest Heights Apartments), Tracie Filmer (Harrow, Neighbours) and Christine Milo (Adult Conversations, Uberrich, House of Bond) with special guests Jessica Green (The Outpost, Red Billabong, Lightning Point) and social media star Kurt Coleman. With a mix of experienced actors working alongside some relative new comers, audiences are bound to fall in love with the comical characters portrayed in Stage Mums.

Creator, writer and actor Anna Waters-Massey said, “I feel like we’ve won the lottery. Creating Stage Mums was such a labour of love for me and the whole team involved. In between auditions and performing various acting roles, I decided to write Stage Mums as a vehicle for myself and some friends. The cast and crew who came together to make it happen were amazing and I was determined to find a great platform to show the finished product.

“When Network Ten were interested in taking us on and supporting the product, it was like a dream come true. I am over the moon!”
