She may only be 14…but Jordyn Yarker is already living the Hollywood lifestyle that many singers double her age would envy.
After the success of her breakthrough single ‘Ayo Rockstar’ back in 2013, Jordyn has swapped her laidback Aussie lifestyle for the fast pace of Los Angeles. The change in scenery means an enormous opportunity for Jordyn to further her career in both the music and film industry.

“At the moment I’m really focusing on writing my own songs and finding the right genre that I want to
be in,” Jordyn said.
“Once I find that, I’ll have a firm direction of where I want to go from there.”
With music inspirations from the likes of British singer FKA twigs, New Zealand music duo Broods and fellow-teen success story Lorde – all who have achieved widespread fame, it’s no wonder Jordyn hopes to see herself heading down the same path as these artists.
“I love pop – it’s really fun but I’m interested in branching out into more alternative stuff. At the moment I absolutely love British singer FKA twigs, I think she’s incredible,” she said.
“Her music style is so interesting and unique, she’s definitely someone I draw inspiration from”.

Jordyn’s advice for other young musicians hoping to break into the music scene is really quite simple.
“The biggest thing young people need to realise is that it’s incredibly hard. You’ve got to really want it with all of your heart, and that is when you’re going to start moving forward.”

“You really have to put in the effort, you have to put in the time, and you have to put in the practise. It’s frustrating having to do the basic stuff first because you really want to get into it, but you really do have to start at the bottom and work your way up – it’s the only way you’re going to improve.”
But how does a girl with all the distractions of the Hollywood lifestyle stay grounded you might wonder? Jordyn’s
mother and manager (momager) Lisa Yarker, said it all comes down to the sort of people they are.

“We’re very homely people. As a family we don’t let the lifestyle lift us off the ground or get a big head. We’re very tight knit and have a very close friendship and relationship. Of course as her mum I will tell Jordyn off if she needs
to be told off, but as a whole we all work well together and definitely have our feet planted firmly on the ground.”
