The award-winning shake & stir theatre co bring Roald Dahl’s family favourite George’s Marvellous Medicine to life this summer in the Cremorne Theatre Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) from 6 to 17 January 2016.
In a spectacular new live show packed (to the rafters) with mischief, magic and giant laughs the team behind the critically acclaimed Australian production of Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes & Dirty Beasts bring you a brand-new stage adaptation from the wacky mind of the world’s no.1 storyteller.
What starts as just another boring day for George quickly turns into a marvellous experiment of gigantic proportions!
On a good day, George can’t stand his Grandma. She complains all the time, she’s mean and she smells funny. On this particular day, Grandma is much more annoying than usual and George has had enough.
Wanting to teach her a lesson and to put an end to her constant nagging, George concocts a special medicine, greater than any medicine in the history of medicines. What he doesn’t expect is that this medicine may actually work; just not in the way he thinks it will.
Suitable for ages 6 to 106 (Grandparents beware!) Director Ross Balbuziente is thrilled to bring another of Roald Dahl’s wonderful works to life.
“George’s Marvellous Medicine was an absolute favourite of mine as a kid and still remains one of my cherished childhood books.
“We are relishing this rare opportunity to adapt Dahl’s much-loved book for stage, ensuring kids (of all ages) laugh harder than they have ever laughed before; after all – laughter is the best medicine”.
“George’s Marvellous Medicine is going to be a rocketing, surprised-filled, hilarious adventure featuring some of Queensland’s best physical and comedic actors”, said Mr Balbuziente.
George’s Marvellous Medicine is set to lift the roof off the Cremorne Theatre this summer, tickets are on sale now via qpac.com.au or call 136 246. Just remember, do not try this at home!
